About this project

A front room, a town hall, and a storm of white confetti on the steps.

The day ran from a front room to a town hall to a reception. Red silk and gold at home, five bridesmaids leaning in around the chair. A blue denim blazer and a white veshti at the ceremony. Cream and gold at the flower wall, then blush sequins by the time the cake was cut. In between: a plane-tree avenue, both families on the town hall steps, and a marble staircase wide enough to take the whole party at once.

All six walking a residential pavement together, the bride centre in bright red, the bridesmaids in deeper red on either side.

Stills

The bride seated at home in a red silk saree and a blue blouse embroidered with a bird, wearing layered gold and garnet jewellery and holding a white rose bouquet.
The same portrait a beat later, the bouquet lifted into her lap and her smile widening to the camera.
Five bridesmaids in deep red sarees lean in around the seated bride from every side, eyes closed, all mid-kiss.
The same group a second later, everyone laughing at the camera, one hand resting on the bride's shoulder.
The bride seated beside her mother, who stands in a teal and magenta silk saree with a hand on her daughter's shoulder.
Her mother leans down to kiss her temple; the bride closes her eyes and laughs.

The bride and her five bridesmaids pressed together on a plane-tree avenue, hands linked, sunlight coming through the canopy.
The bride walks up the road toward the camera with her bouquet, bridesmaids fanned out behind her.

The bride walks into the ceremony room hand in hand with her mother, guests lifting phones on both sides.
Framed over the groom's shoulder, the bride looks at him and breaks into a smile.

Hands held through the vows, the officiant reading from an open book behind them.
Close in on their joined hands — her henna and stacked gold bangles against his cuff.
She slides the ring onto his finger, the officiant grinning between them.
She laughs as the ring goes on; he watches his own hand.
Both turn to the room with their ringed hands raised, laughing.
The first kiss, her hennaed hand on his shoulder, the officiant applauding at the edge of the frame.
The groom signs the register at a wooden table; behind him the bride laughs with a hand to her forehead.

A witness signs the register in a teal silk saree while another woman in blush pink watches beside her.

Guests line both sides of the town hall steps throwing white confetti as the couple come down through it.
The full group of guests gathered on the stone forecourt outside the town hall.
The same group portrait framed wider, confetti still scattered across the paving.
The couple stand hand in hand on a marble staircase between gilded columns.
Shot from the landing above, the two of them look up from the stone stairs.
The same overhead frame opened out to take in the carved console table and the marble wall.
The whole bridal party arranged up the marble staircase — groomsmen in burgundy, bridesmaids in red, the couple at the centre.
The party spread across the width of the gilded staircase, the groom standing alone on the bottom step.
The bride turns back over her shoulder on the stairs with her bouquet raised, a red rose and jasmine pinned in her hair.
The same look framed tighter, the beadwork of her blue blouse catching the light.
A full-length portrait of the bride against a marble wall, one hand resting on the gilded banister.
The bride looks down at her bouquet and smiles, bangles stacked along both wrists.

The groom adjusts his cuff, the wood-panelled hall soft behind him.
At the reception, the couple stand in cream and gold before a wall of white flowers with both hands raised to show their henna.

Feeding each other the first bite of cake, the room lit purple behind them.
Guests crowd in around the cake table for a group portrait at the reception.
A third change of outfit beside the cake — a cream suit and a blush sequinned saree.
