About this project

A hotel morning in black and white, then a red brick manor and a great deal of tulle.

It opens quietly — loafers and a ring box laid out, a cufflink being fastened, the groom sitting forward by a curtained window with the whole first hour in black and white. Then the manor: a long drive, a Jacobean front filling the frame, a tulle train spread out across the lawn. It ends with the two of them holding on to each other in an open doorway, eyes closed, which is where these days tend to finish.

Four groomsmen in grey and charcoal suits and dark glasses arranged around the armchairs of a hotel suite.

Stills

The groom's things laid out before the day — black tassel loafers either side of a wooden ring box, a steel watch and a pair of cufflinks.
The same flat-lay from above, the two rings in their box between the shoes.
One of the party leans in to fasten a cufflink at the groom's wrist, both still in shirtsleeves.
In black and white, the groom sits forward by a curtained window, hands loosely clasped, waiting.
The same quiet moment framed wider, his profile against the daylight.
The groom seated in a charcoal three-piece suit and a pale patterned tie, looking away from the camera.

The groom laughing in a navy velvet armchair, sunglasses on, one ankle across his knee.
Leaning forward out of the same chair with a half-smile to the camera.
A tight black and white portrait, dark glasses on and hands clasped in front of him.
Perched on the arm of a sofa in the hotel lounge, rubbing his hands together, orange velvet seating behind.
In black and white, the groom stands alone outside the hotel entrance, light falling across the paving.
The bride and three of her party seated together on a sofa in matching satin robes and slippers.
The same four turned to each other, laughing, in the hotel room before the dresses go on.
A bridesmaid in a teal one-shoulder gown is walked down the aisle on the arm of one of the party, guests standing on both sides.
The same pair further down the aisle, petals and confetti already scattered across the floor.
In black and white, the bride comes down the steps into the ceremony room flanked by two men in light grey suits.
The couple walk hand in hand up the drive with a red brick Jacobean manor house filling the frame behind them.
The same walk with both of them laughing, her lace sleeves and full tulle skirt bright against the brick.
Framed tighter on the couple mid-stride, the manor's arched doorway centred behind them.
The two turn to face each other on the drive, hands joined, the house soft in the distance.
A full-length portrait of the bride on the lawn with her white rose bouquet, tall dark trees behind her.
The bride turned side-on, the tulle train of her gown spread out across the grass.
The bride standing on the drive by the brick gateposts, train trailing behind her on the tarmac.
A close portrait of the bride laughing with her eyes closed, hands folded at her waist.
The bride indoors against a glass balustrade, head tipped, hands together.
The bride leaning against a dark stone bar top, laughing, pendant lights warm overhead.
The couple stand face to face indoors, her hand flat on his chest, both looking down.
A close portrait of the two of them cheek to cheek, her engagement ring catching the warm light.
The couple hold each other in an open doorway, framed by the timber doors on both sides.
A last embrace in the doorway, both with their eyes closed.
